Academician of ChinaAcademy of Engineering, ChinaEngineering Design Master and the winner of the First Liang Sicheng Architecture Prize (the highest award inChina), Mr. He Jingtang is Dean, professor and Ph.D. supervisor in School of Architecture, and Director of Architectural Design & Research Institute, South China University of Technology.
Furthermore, He Jingtang was awarded the grand prize of “Top 10 Profession Influential Figures in China” by the Chinese Survey and Design Committee for the 60th anniversary of the foundation of PRC in 2009, and the prize of “Guanghua engineering science and technique award”, the “Lifetime Achievement Award” elected by China International Design & Art Fair, as well as the “award of outstanding contribution for Guangdong science and technique” ever since 2010.
Prof. He devotes himself to architecture design, teaching and research, and has put forward the “2 Views” (the holistic view and the sustainable development view) and “3 Characters” (character of region, culture and times) on architectural philosophy and design thought. Prof. He directed the establishment of State Key Laboratory of Subtropical Building Science, which is the only one in the field of architecture inChina. He has not only made pioneering contribution to the development of a first-class team of architecture design and research, but also work out—as chief architect—a great deal of projects with international influence, such as China Pavilion in World Expo 2010 Shanghai, the Expansion Project for Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders, leading Chinese modern architecture exploration towards the international advanced level.
