Bad Aibling City Hall

Bad Aibling City Hall

Project Description

The concept behind the new city hall for Bad Aibling in Bavaria emphasizes the forging of an identity. The building serves as an open house that is intertwined with the everyday life of the local residents. The heart of city hall is the daylight atrium, which links the different offices and areas of the building to form a space for casual or planned encounters. The design encourages communication and interaction throughout the building. The holistic energy concept includes such initiatives as wood pellets heating, cooling using water from a nearby creek and the implementation of LED lighting throughout. The new hall primarily accommodates public functions. It is designed as a multifunctional venue that houses citizens’ services, administrative offices, meeting rooms, as well as a public library and a registry for weddings – all under one roof.
