Project Description
The 250 residential units for students, based on a strong community spirit, are located in three joined 15-storey buildings without a front or back. The distinctive shape of the extremely low-energy buildings makes them easily visible on the campus from a 360-degree perspective. The dorm rooms are located on the outer faces of the towers, where they all enjoy views of the countryside, without overlooking neighbours. Private balconies for each room help reduce thermal gain.
Moving inwards from the private rooms towards the communal kitchen in the centre, the areas graduallybecome more collective: a shared living room acts as a social meeting place for the small cluster of seven rooms that all the residences are grouped as, and acts as a transition to the fully communal spaces. The kitchens at the centre of each floor are shared by all, with glazing and views facing three directions. The top floors with spectacular views are reserved for communal activities such as study groups, party rooms and green roof terraces.
