Cinnamon Tower

Cinnamon Tower

Project Description

The new ‘Überseequartier’ (Overseas Quarter) in Hamburg’s HafenCity, spanning 286,000m², has been under construction since 2007– 8 hectares and 16 buildings strictly arranged by the master plan and central boulevard.
The imposing urbanity of the six-storey sculptured blocks is interrupted by the old port authority building (Altes Hafenamt) – the only survivor from harbour days. The BOLLES+WILSON design, which won first prize in the 2006 competition, has transformed this red-brick heritage structure into a boutique hotel. A pavilion, as an exhibition and marketing space, was the first piece of the ensemble to be completed. The Cinnamon Tower houses 10 apartments, mostly maisonettes (130 – 300m²).
