Project Description
Located in a privileged environment in the province of Cáceres, the goal was to transform abandoned stables into a family home by completely renovating it in a way that would respect the environment.
Problems relating to the electricity and water supply were resolved through sustainability systems which ÁBATON uses in all its projects. A solar panel system with storage batteries was developed to supply energy during the summer, while turbines were installed to take advantage of the two streams flowing through the estate, providing electricity for the winter.
The element of water features throughout the interior of the property. Stone found in the surrounding area was used to build the house and the swimming pool. Supporting walls in the interior were replaced by light metal pillars. The haylofts in the upper area were converted into bedrooms. The water flows through to become the fountain that is situated in the interior courtyard of the property. The enormous central lounge that serves different purposes occupies the remaining space.
