Family House

Family House

Project Description

The single-family house, planned by Rudolf Perathoner Architects, is situated on a steep hill just outside the mountain village of Selva in Val Gardena. It enjoys a unique position with astonishing views of the beautiful Dolomites. The priority of the project was the appropriate integration of the architecture into the site and the surroundings, inserting it into the natural topography of the slope by dividing the house into two floors, plus an additional garage and underground cellar level. The project was inspired by the traditional architecture of the old rural houses of the valley, expressed for instance by the saddle roof with its typical shingle covering and the use of local building materials such as larch wood, both on the exterior as well as in the interior. The careful implementation of energy efficient solutions was a hallmark of the project.
