Project Description
The Garner Veterans Memorial stands in proud formation within its serene park setting. The approach to the memorial lies in the shadow of an imposing wall of pockmarked panels occasionally interrupted by sunlit benches. Stepping through the shadow of the wall and into the light of the memorial, a backward glance reveals the cumulative history of our nation’s causes. Inside the memorial, a second, human-scaled series of panels bear the names of Garner’s veterans that have given their lives for our country. In this place, between our collective causes and individual sacrifices, is the story of our veterans.
