Project Description
The building, situated on top of a hill, fulfils a dual function: as an artist’s studio and as a home for the family. The terrain is characterised by the presence of clay houses and their chromatic relationship with their surroundings, inspiring the use of materials. Hollow tiles were divided and applied on the façades in a unique way. The formal purity refers to the barns and houses that feature extensively in the area. The interior space (including the kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms and the library) consists of two levels, dividing the total volume into two areas for studying and living. At the client’s request, the openings provide horizontal light in the studio and at the same time frame the views of particular segments of the landscape.
