House in Alcobaça

Project Description

Due to our client’s fascination with the beauty of the landscape, while developing this project we tried to produce an architecture that minimised any impact on the environment.
We chose a straightforward plan, which was rationalised and simplified so as to fit within the width of the plot.
Instead of adapting the house to site, the land was shaped to blend with the architecture and integrate it as if it were a work of landscape art. This process was effective for preserving views, improving sustainability and ultimately allowing nature its rightful place, supporting the sense of being able to inhabit the landscape.
