Light is the main element of this house design. From the wine room in the basement to the living room overlooking the sea and the natural sand dunes, this house radiates an atmosphere of a luxurious getaway vacation location.
The clients− a real estate entrepreneur and his wife, decided to build their house on the Ashdod shoreline. The couple love entertaining and hosting guests and therefore the architects emphasized this important requirement throughout the design process.
The 750 metre squared house comprises two buildings connected by the ground floor and roof. The main building is inhabited by the couple, and the second building is to host guests for weekends and holidays.
The house combines classic and restricted design with a dynamic, modern and innovative atmosphere by means of an optimal link between the architects‘ ideals and the clients‘ requirements. The main raw material of the house is light and all the visual elements of the house are directed towards the sunrise and sunset. The fascinating play between the light and shadows create a building with a different ambiance during the day and at night. Aluminum cladding is one of the most prominent building materials and is known as being optimal for buildings near the sea.
The colourful furniture items chosen by the interior designer, Mor Saban, create a contrast to the white, grey and glass building. „If there is anything this house knows how to do, it is to be a beach house“ says Eliaou Zahavi. „The dunes and the sea are present in a very dominant way, from every floor and every corner“. „We tried to refine the definition and experience of the sea, clouds, skies and sand“, adds architect Daniel Ohana. The result is a family house with the sensation of vacation.
