Internet Fiesta Pavilion

Internet Fiesta Pavilion

Project Description

In 1999 internet was still a frontier to be explored and the digitization a subject for technicians and experts.

So the European Union launched an event to promote the social and educational uses of the web. The „Internet Fiesta“ had as main town Florence where the Studio Lauria, newly formed, was commissioned to create a pavilion that gathered the exposure of computer products of the leading companies. In the pavilion of 450 square meters the main attraction was the internet point! The pavilion was built with a steel reticular structure covered by micro-perforated aluminum plates, backlit. The contrast between the monumental square and the pavilion of strong contemporary impact had great success. In the 2000 the project of this set-up was exhibited at the Venice Biennale.
