Project Description
In only three months of planning and 3.5 months of construction the new day-care-centre of the „Waldorf-School am Illerblick“ consisting of one group has been constructed within the former fort. The building itself consists of a timber frame construction on a ground slab and fits perfectly with the surrounding of the historical topography of the former fort with its earth walls. During the time of construction the parents of the “Waldorf-pupils” were committed in the process of building, for example they helped fixing the wooden slats on the façade.
The irregular shape of the building is due to the area. Because of the huge windows at both ends of the building, the skylights and the regularity of the windows one is always aware of the fort wall and the surrounding nature. The day-care-centre is connected to the existing kindergarten with its three groups and provided by it.
