Project Description
The project consists of the renovation of the existing building by restoring the existing northern perimeter, the addition of some residential offices in the east and south, the demolition of the central part of the prefabricated building and the construction of a library as a volume contained within the height limit of the old building and developed partly above and partly below the earth.
The volume is reflected on the surface of the water that surrounds it and the water mirrors the deep greencolour that characterizes the boundary walls preserved by the project. A platform roof protrudes towards the public spaces and acknowledges architecture on the street. In the interior, the absolute white of the resin floor and of the furniture shines with the green of the exterior reflected through the continuous glass wall that runs along the curvilinear shape. The light that pervades the open space of the library provides an interplay of reflections off the white elements of the furniture, the floor elements and the structural elements and onto the water and the continuous transparent glass.
