Project Description

My initial instinct was to build a structure that captures a feeling of the surrounding natural environment. However, it is a challenge because architecture is an artificial construct. Rather than simply imitating forms founded in nature, I tried to create an abstract representation that still imparts a feeling of nature.

In the natural world, there is algorithmic and beautiful expression, such as the way the birds weave nests out of leaves and twigs, or the holes and patterns of displaced earth created by animals burrowing into the ground. The house was designed by abstracting these ideas.
