Project Description

The design concept was principally determined by an analysis of the location, especially with regard to the topographical characteristics of the site, slightly falling from north to south, and by an analysis of the existing building.
The project aims to adapt the building to the requirements of the new owners, through precise interventions and creating a new and contemporary residential space.
The new form of the roof is influenced by the contours of the site, in order to integrate the building as far as possible into the surrounding context.
A precise incision in the ceiling towards the upper floors creates space for the new vertical interior access infrastructure, enabling the linking of residential spaces on two levels. The rooms on the ground floor and on the first floor have an open layout. Even so, the rooms are clearly defined, owing to structural elements such as supports, struts and supporting walls. The roof is elevated only in the area of the children’s rooms. Therefore the volume of the structure is only extended where it is really required, which gives the building a new character.
