The project is nestled within twenty-five wooded acres of landscaped land, a perfect glass ring hovering above a lake and gardens, creating a new window towards the sky. According to ancient Chinese culture, it is said that the earth has the shape of a square and the sky has the form of a circle. Symbolically, the circle represents unity and the family and the Sky Building, an exhibition and sales centre for the new Zhongguancun Technological Park development, is a perfect circle. Cradled by the earth, which serves as its container and protector, the building takes the form of a glass ring standing as a solitary figure within the landscape. With an outer layer consisting entirely of double glazing, the transparency of the structure blends the perception of nature and form, allowing sky and earth to become one. Awaiting the further development of the property in the future, the structure will be used as the park’s exhibition and event centre.
