Project Description
The relocation of industrial activities and the construction of a canal basin has provided the opportunity to redevelop this zone along the River Scheldt in Cambrai, France. It is considered a fundamental step in the transformation process of the banks of the river and the renewal of the city.
This area can be developed as a new part of the city with a strong sense of identity and a significant spatial quality. The project proposes the construction of three office complexes towards the perimeters of the site. A landscaped space is to be created in the centre, conceived as the green heart of the future development.
The southernmost building on the plot runs along the former harbour, preserving traces of the site’s industrial past.
The façades are a composition of wood and concrete. Their simplicity with regard to the choice of materials and their distinctive openings are their greatest strength.
