Project Description
The walkway is designed as a sculptural element integrated into the enchanting environment of the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, establishing a dialogue with it that is inspired by the landscape and the architectural features of the location.
The romantic aspect of the ruins, the concept of the unfinished, and the restoration operations for anastylosis performed over time led to an image of the Valley of the Temples characterised by elements of different heights and sizes.
The different heights of the columns of the nearby temple of Heracles were transfigured and reinterpreted architecturally in the walkway, by means of a dynamic sequence of vertical elements of different heights, which generate a vibration of light and produce the effect of transparency, dematerialisation, and the anti-tectonic.
The walkway is made entirely of Corten steel, a material characterised by variations in colour, opacity and mutability, similar to natural elements, thereby integrating the project with the landscape.
