TID Annex

TID Annex

Project Description

A few years ago, we were travelling from Portugal to Northern Spain and became acquainted with these beautiful primitive granaries named Hórreos, and learned among other things how an interior space can be kept fresh and ventilated by allowing the air to flow continuously and integrating an open tectonic system into the façade. Our project involves the annex of the existing TID building, where architecture and design students go to make wooden models, at ITESO University in Guadalajara, Mexico. We thought we could evoke the traditional Hórreos by putting its teachings into practice, along with a significant process of transformation. The annex is a place where people go to apply lacquer, varnishes and all kinds of coating paints, and that is the reason the building has natural ventilation with a system of wooden louvres that allows air to flow through the façade.
