Twister

Project Description

TWISTER is a four-unit condominium located in Bad Ragaz, Switzerland. The surrounding region, “Arena Sardona” is UNESCO World heritage site for its dramatic display of folded and faulted rock formations created by intense tectonic shifts and collisions. With this majestic backdrop of mountain ranges and century-old buildings, TWISTER responds to landscape and vernacular. While coherent to its environment, it pronounces its own vocabulary distinguished from others. With a subtle wicked gesture of stacking and twisting, each unit has its own character evoking the feeling of individuality apart from conformity. To express the desired affect of monolith, the entire structure is built with one material, cast-in place concrete called ‘Misapore’. Misapore is a proprietary chosen for its outstanding thermal quality. Its main aggregates are pebbles manufactured from foamed recycled glass, thus creating a structurally sound but exceedingly lightweight optimal for reduced in monochromatic approach in design and material.
