Project Description
UOL Edge Gallery redefines the typology of the Singaporean exhibition gallery by relying on the inherent branding value of an iconic architectural statement, which is more relevant, subtle and sophisticated, rather than on the formulaic combination of staid glass boxes and oversized billboards.
The building comprises a series of low-cost, cement board, L-shaped walls painted white, paired with interstitial vertical glass strips, with a contour in harmony with the shape of the site, to form the overall building.
The glass strips intentionally face away from the oncoming traffic flow at the busy intersection, but allow for visual axes and entry portals.
Key aspects of the site included the unique semicircular site and noisy surroundings. Our design responded to these factors by creating a choreographed and sales-oriented sequence.
