Project Description
This proposal involved what Hertzberger described as ‘vertical urban design’, as each new auditorium was to be designed by a different architect: the pop music hall (with 2,000 standing places) by Jo Coenen, the 350-seat jazz hall by Thijs Asselbergs, the 400-seat (or 600-standing places) multipurpose music hall by NL Architects, and the 550-seat chamber music hall byHertzberger (together with his former partner Patrick Fransen), who were also responsible for the new foyer-plaza and the renovation of the original 1,700-seat symphony hall, as well as structuring and organising the overall building.
