Wastewater treatment plant Levanto

Wastewater treatment plant Levanto

Project Description

The plant is situated on the Ligurian sea in a highly important touristic and environmental area: the Cinque Terre and is used by three neighbouring villages (Levanto, Bonassola,  Monterosso). It is situated in the municipality of Levanto opposite the new amazing waterfront. The wastewater treatment plant is completely enclosed in an architecturally important structure which is placed inside the rocky landscape of the coast. It has been developed on two levels underground and others two above. Three flowing bands resume reinterpreting the theme of  the Ligurian ‚terraces‘: they are characterized by a concrete‘s crown and a local stone stand. In the most high, surrounded by nature, the stone is splitted and is treated in a similar way to a traditional Ligurian wall, the others bands are characterized by regular strips that follow a precise geometric pattern, interspersed with openings required. The plant is expected to serve 24.000 inhabitants.
