Founded in 1988 by Ben van Berkel and Caroline Bos, UNStudio specialize in creating groundbreaking architecture and design at all scales, from furniture to city-planning. The name, UNStudio, stands for United Network Studio referring to the collaborative nature of the practice. With more than 25 years of experience and offices in Amsterdam, Shanghai and Hong Kong, UNStudio is a global practice and has over 85 projects in Asia, Europe, and North America. The studio continues to expand its global presence with recent commissions in among others China, South Korea, Qatar, Germany and the UK.
The studio has developed a highly flexible methodological approach, which incorporates parametric designing and collaborations with leading specialists in other disciplines.
The office has worked internationally since its inception and has produced a wide range of work from products and private houses to public buildings, infrastructure and urban masterplans. Current projects include the design for Doha’s Integrated Metro Network in Qatar, the Raffles City mixed-use development in Hangzhou and the Canaletto Tower in London. Pivotal realised projects include the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart, the Mobius House in the Netherlands and the Erasmus Bridge in Rotterdam.
