Chesapeake Finish Line Tower

Chesapeake Finish Line Tower

Project Description

The Chesapeake Finish Line Tower is a project by the Chesapeake Energy Corporation, a major supporter of Oklahoma River projects and of the Oklahoma City Boathouse Foundation. The tower is located on the Oklahoma River.
The architectural concept is to create a dramatic and memorable and symbolic landmark for the Boathouse District that ties the boathouses, the park and the spirit of the sport together, as well as to create a state-of-the-art Finish Line Tower that meets FISA International Standards and to make the finish line a recognisable place for celebration.
The design considerations include making the finish line an architectural element, using slightly curved glass and special lighting to reduce interior glass glare during daytime and night racing, ensuring jury visibility of the racing lanes, roofed space for spectators, mirror walls to draw light into the space and increase the appearance of transparency, and a finish line LED marker.
