Project Description
The new FREIgeist PS.SPEICHER Hotel Einbeck is a part of the historic site with its brick stone Kornspeicher. Old and new are visually connected by using materials as brick, concrete and glass. Provided views from one to another of the solitary buildings give a sense for the overall ensemble. The Hotel opens in direction of the PS.SPEICHER and to its surrounding landscape. The new building is embedded into the existing site. The result appears as it has always been like it is today.
The interior is timeless, robust, rough and industrial. No extra layers to hide the building structure. Steel, brick stone, glass and concrete are seen in the foyer and all open spaces; the five stories Atrium creates spectacular views and contains the steel made stairs. In contrast the more intimate spaces as the rooms or reading areas are welcoming, soft with printed wallpapers and carpets in the corridors.
Minimal Low-Tech-Architecture is the underlying economically efficient building concept. The effective integration of all technic-components into the building shell made further additional stories or a basement unnecessary. Natural Air-conditioning and the building materials own storage capacity lead to a stable and comfortable climate in the inside.
