Project Description
The project involves a new building to house a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Centre, designed to fulfil three main uses: residence for people with mental illnesses, a centre for social rehabilitation and integration, and a day centre for outpatients.
Therefore the relatively large scale of the site led to a design with a one-storey building, with a semi-basement, in order to maintain a wide open space for a landscaped garden.
This volume is conceived as a box that structures the different functions, with a single access and a shared recreation area. The size of the plot allows for a scheme with three wings with different uses and a wider central bay for social activities.
The shape of the building is highlighted by the length of the façade. A system of adjustable vertical louvres regulates the sunlight and the inner façade is shaded by trees.
