The Proposal

Project Description

Art, life – two words, one thought: there has to be a connection between the two! Up until now such connections have been represented by shops, where artists exhibited their work and their daily lives, or Livecams that broadcast peculiarities on the world wide web. However, the connection between art and life was never complete. There was always something dividing them.

THE PROPOSAL breaks down the last boundaries. The Swiss gallery for art occupies a backstreet in the Zurich district of Wiedikon and provides a “residence in art” during art installations. The creators Jeremie, Lenny and Christian offer bagel breakfasts and a total of two beds. The first is located in a separate room in the gallery itself in the piano nobile of the main building. Breakfast is served on the piano level of the gallery with direct view on the exhibition on display. Around 250 guests so far have dared to spend the night there. For those who are who are more adventures, there is an old Peugeot J7 parked in the yard. The bus, made in 1977, was carefully refurbished and stylishly converted. the bus was a former ultraregional art televison chanel, a whole in one tv-studio and broadcasting unit called WATCHY WALKY TV founded by the owners. Apart from the front, all the sides are painted in matte silver, including the windows. The interior, mostly made of plywood, contains just a double bed. Whether what goes on in there can be regarded as art is revealed by gull-wing doors, or not …
